Event Details

The Kerala State Planning Board invites applications from academically outstanding Post-Graduate students and Ph.D. scholars from recognised Universities/Institutions in India for the Student Internship Programme 2026-27. It is intended to provide students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the planning, policy formulation, evaluation, and development activities undertaken by the Kerala State Planning Board.

Details of the Fellowship 

  • Qualification: PG and PhD 
  • Duration: The duration of the Internship Programme shall be two months.
  • Fellowship Amount 
  • Post-Graduate Students: 24,000
  • Ph.D. Scholars: ₹30,000

Applicants may submit research proposals on any one of the following themes:

  • Agriculture and Allied Activities
  • Cooperatives
  • Decentralisation and Good Governance
  • Demography and Care Economy
  • Disaster Management
  • Education and Knowledge Economy
  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Fiscal State of the Economy and Revenue Mobilisation
  • Health and Nutrition
  • Industry and Infrastructure
  • Information Technology, Tourism and Migration
  • Labour, Employment and Skill Development
  • MSMEs and Entrepreneurship
  • Poverty and Livelihood
  • Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Marginalised Sections
  • Social Security and Development
  • Women and Child Development
  • Public Policy
  • Any other topic related to the development and planning process of Kerala

Eligibility

Applicants shall:

  • Be an Indian citizen.
  • Be pursuing a Ph.D. programme or be studying in the final year/final semester of a Post-Graduate Degree Programme in a recognised University/Institution in India.
  • Submit a Recommendation Letter from the Head of the Department in the prescribed format.
  • Belong to disciplines such as Economics, Econometrics, Sociology, Development Studies, Statistics, Commerce, Demography, Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Social Work, Fisheries, Education, Law, Public Policy, Anthropology, Community Medicine, or any other discipline relevant to development planning.

Research Proposal

  • Applicants shall submit a Research Proposal (not exceeding 1,500 words) in the prescribed format along with the application.
  • Applications not accompanied by a Research Proposal will not be considered.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on:

  • Quality and relevance of the Research Proposal.
  • Performance in the Personal Interview.
  • The decision of the Kerala State Planning Board shall be final.

Final Report

  • Interns shall submit a Final Report in the prescribed format within the stipulated period.
  • The report shall be duly certified by the Faculty Guide/Supervisor.
  • A Certificate of Internship will be issued upon satisfactory completion of the programme.

  • Recommendation Letter from the Head of the Department (Annexure II)

General Instructions

1. Incomplete applications or applications received after the prescribed date and time will not be considered.

2. The Kerala State Planning Board reserves the right to shortlist applicants for interviews based on the quality of the Research Proposal and academic credentials.

3. The Board reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
