The Indian Grammatical Tradition represents one of the oldest and most systematic linguistic traditions in the world, beginning with the Vedic Prātiśākhyas and Šikşā texts and reaching its highest development in the works of Panini, Kātyāyana, Patañjali and Tolkäppiyar. Its scientific approach to language continues to influence contemporary linguistic research, language documentation, computational linguistics, and language education. This programme will focus on grammars from Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Prakrit, Pali, and other Indian languages. Renowned scholars and experts will speak about Indian grammatical texts such as Kātantra/Kalāpa, Sarasvatīkanthābharaņa, Navya Vyākaraņa, Sectarian Vyākaraņa, Vakyapadiya, Tolkāppiyam, etc. to name a few

  • To provide theoretical knowledge related to the foundations, historical developments, and contemporary relevance of Indian grammatical texts.

Note

1. A modest accommodation shall be provided by CIIL, Mysuru, for all selected participants during the programme.

2. Travel Allowance (TA) shall be reimbursed as per CIIL/Government of India norms:

PG Students: AC 3-Tier (3AC) train fare or equivalent.

Research Scholars and Faculty members: AC 2-Tier (2AC) train fare or equivalent.

3. Registration shall be carried out through the CIII. registration process. Selection of participants shall be based on the prescribed eligibility criteria and availability of seats
