The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (CHSL), 2026. This competitive examination is conducted to recruit eligible candidates for various Group 'C' posts—including Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and Data Entry Operator Grade 'A'—across various Ministries, Departments, Offices, and Constitutional or Statutory Bodies of the Government of India.

Details of the Examination

Qualification: For DEO/DEO Grade 'A' in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC, and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed the 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent. For LDC/JSA and all other DEO/DEO Grade 'A' positions, candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates appearing in their 12th Standard exam are also eligible, provided they possess the essential qualification on or before the cut-off date of October 7, 2026. Candidates must be citizens of India or fall under specified nationality conditions.

Age: General Age Limit: 18 to 27 years as of August 1, 2026 (candidates born between August 2, 1999, and August 1, 2008). Age relaxation applies: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 15 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

Salary/Pay Scale:

  • For LDC and JSA posts: Rs.19,900 - Rs.63,200.
  • For Data Entry Operator: Rs.25,500 - Rs.81,100.
  • For Data Entry Operator Grade 'A': Rs.29,200- Rs.92,300.

Selection Process: The examination consists of two tiers conducted via Computer Based Examination (CBE):

Tier-I Examination: Objective-type, multiple-choice exam covering English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

Tier-II Examination: Conducted in two sessions on the same day. Session-I: Section-I (Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & General Intelligence), Section-II (English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness), and Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test - qualifying). Session-II: Section-IV (Skill Test for DEO / Typing Test for LDC/JSA - qualifying).

Application Fee: Rs.100. Women, SC, ST, and PwD candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
