The Indian Navy has released a notification inviting applications from unmarried male and female candidates for permanent commission as officers in its technical branches.

Details of the Notification

  • 1. Mechanical Engineering: 30 posts (Maximum of 4 vacancies reserved for women)  
  • 2. Electronics & Communication Engineering: 30 posts (Maximum of 4 vacancies reserved for women)  

Note: Based on merit and performance during training, 7 candidates from the Mechanical Engineering branch will be streamed into B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding at NCW, Kochi.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). Additionally, they must have secured at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII. Crucially, only candidates who have appeared for the JEE (Main) 2026 exam for B.E./B.Tech are eligible to apply.

Age: Candidates must be born between 02 Jul 2007 and 01 Jan 2010 (both dates inclusive).

Selection Procedure

Shortlisting of applications for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview will be based on the JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL) 2026. Shortlisted candidates will undergo SSB interviews followed by a medical examination. The final common merit list will be prepared based purely on SSB marks and medical fitness.

Online Applications starts from: 29.05.2026  

Examination Centre: SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at one of the following centers starting from September 2026 onwards: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkata, or Visakhapatnam. Change of SSB center is strictly not permitted. 

Last Date for Online Application: 18.06.2026.
